Welcome to Dor l’Door!  Hebrew speakers will hopefully enjoy the word play in the name.  For non-Hebrew speakers, “dor” means generation as in, from one generation to the following.  It is a common Hebrew phrase meaning we pass along knowledge and customs from one generation to the next.  We hope you feel when you acquire a one-of-a-kind, handmade mezuzah from Dor l’door, you will want to pass on your artwork as a family heirloom to your generations!

Special Ordering

There are two types of special orders: The most common, is for you to decide which of the three species of wood that I work with (olive, black walnut or grapevine) and the vial to house your mezuzah scroll that you would like to own, and then I design one that meets with your approval.

The second type of special order is when you supply a wood that is meaningful to you (I made one out of oak from a tree that was in the yard of the home this person grew up in) and then choose a vial from our selection.  Or, you choose your own vial (example; see the baby bottle picture in the Gallery, used for a baby’s room, or, the 2000 year old roman glass vial), and I will figure out how to make it part of a meaningful mezuzah.

The mezuzah scroll should be cherished for its religious significance, and the vessel it is housed in, admired for its beauty and memories.

Special orders require a non-refundable $150 deposit.

Balance of payment due upon approval of the completed mezuzah.
